Position Title: Program Assistant
Annual Salary: $32,500 – $42,500
Location: Grand Council Treaty #3 Administrative Offices, Kenora, ON

Grand Council Treaty #3 (GCT3) is the historic government of the Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty #3, which includes 28 First Nations and Covers 55,000 Sq. Miles in north western Ontario and eastern Manitoba. At the direction of the GCT3 leadership, GCT3 protects, preserves and enhances Treaty and Aboriginal rights for the benefit and protection of its citizens.
With the above mandate in mind, GCT3 is looking for Program Assistant to support the work of the Territorial Planning Unit Team and Engagement Liaison on the engagement process between NWMO, GCT3, and the Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty #3. The Program Assistant’s role is to fulfill a broad array of support functions and occasional research assistance.

  • Assist the Engagement Liaison with the organization and coordination of various internal andexternal meetings related to the project;
  • Conduct background research on nuclear energy, nuclear waste, and/or issues as directed by theEngagement Liaison or senior staff in the TPU;
  • Contribute to drafting and editing briefs, blogs, communications, and reports related to theproject;
  • Provide other research, writing, and editing support for various reports, documents, and webcontent related with the program;
  • Translate or arrange for the translation of technical and other reports into Anishinaabemowin forthe benefit of all Treaty #3 members;
  • Manage and track discussion papers, reports, policy papers, or other related documents related tothis engagement process;
  • Liaise and engage with Treaty #3 members, including Youth, Elders, and Leadership, on issuesrelated to the project;
  • Provide administrative support to senior TPU staff; and
  • Perform other duties as necessary as assigned by immediate supervisor.


  • Two or more years of professional experience, preferably in an administrative support role;
  • Outstanding organizational skills;
  • Effective oral communication skills;
  • Excellent proficiency in technical writing;
  • Ability to work effectively and quickly under pressure;
  • Flexibility and able to prioritize;
  • Understanding of Anishinaabe culture and customs; and
  • The ability to speak and write Anishinaabemowin is preferred, but all qualified and interested individuals will be considered.
